& Crediting Updates
As
is always the case with publishing ventures, and despite
the fact that several knowledgeable magicians pored over
the manuscript before it went to print, errors and omissions
somehow crept into the text for “Random Acts
of Magic.”
This

more accurate information where necessary. All changes below
will be made in future editions of the book.

SPLITTANT
ACES (Page 36): In the Comments section, I mention
using the Splittant technique to split a 6 of Clubs into
two 3-And-A-Half of clubs, but of course, you should begin
with a 7 of Clubs... Me bad at math…
COLOUR
INVERSION (Page 41): While Richard Kaufman is credited
as having created the Inversion plot (CardMagic, Kaufman,
1979), I recently came across an earlier effect in which
a deck of cards reverses itself around a selection by Bruce
Cervon, called “Half Reverse Cut - Kellie Displacement,”
in Epilogue, Issue Six, July, 1969.
OVER
EASY (Page 17): Ignore the SITUATION CHECK on page
19 – for some reason, it says that the selected card
should be at the bottom of the left-hand packet, when in
fact at that point it is the lowermost face-down card of
the right-hand packet (a face-up card is beneath it).
CHANGES
(Page 21): While MARC DESOUZA is credited for having created
the “Shapeshifter” change, I neglected to mention
that DeSouza’s move is only a slight variation of
OSCAR MUNOZ’S “Pirouette Change.”
THE
MADDEN FORCE (Page 51): JON RACHERBAUMER informs
me that he created and published this very force in one
of his many excellent periodicals more than 11 years ago.
COUNT
ON IT (Page 57): The approach employed here to
steal out one card from the nine-card packet and center
it in the deck apparently belongs to RON BAUER.
